The swirl pot

We didn't even know what a swirl pot was until a few months ago. Turns out it's used to stop the engine being starved of fuel in sharp corners. Sounds fairly logical and looked not to hard to fit.

The bracket that gbs supplies is like a little angled aluminium sheet which is folded over on one side. The idea is to rivnut the bracket to one side of the chassis and then mount the swirl pot between the small bracket and the contrasting cross member. We decided that it looked and felt too flimsy. We got the cardboard out and created a template for the space where the swirl pot is located. This bit of cardboard was then taken and fabricated at a local aluminium manufacturing firm.

The new bracket was riveted into place and the swirl pot aligned.  It was pressed up hard against the foot well panel bulkhead. Holes were then drilled in the bracket and rivnuts were seated. Bolts with lock tight were then added to secure the pot in place.
